This is the One metre Primesat dish. Aluminium, very accurately made and the pole mount is very solid, much better than any other on the market for rigidity.
Its weight is about 2/3 that of the steel equivalent. The motor will last longer with less weight on its bearings.
The Technomate TM2600 motor is still the one I choose, despite newer models, cheaper and faster, it it solid and reliable which is what you need especially in the windy conditions. Many newer motors tend to develop ‘play’ in the mechanism , which is then always hit and miss with signal levels even in a light breeze. The 2600 though is the best I have found over the years for remaining ‘in spec’
This combination of motor and dish is what I recommend for enthusiasts, now that the Triax 1.1m is no longer available. For receivers, the Vu+ range is a great choice. Or Technisat with its ci+ cam possibilities – Fransat, Tivu, Skylink and many more.
Nilesat 7° West
Q. EVEN BIGGER! Arab and Middle East Channnels – BADR4 & 6 ( ArabSat) and NILESAT
A . The results you achieve with a motorised system are never quite as good as a fixed dish, as the accuracy of position is critical for these weak signals. The signals from NileSat and BADR6 satellites need a fixed dish of 1.8metre for adequate reception all year in the South of England. (BADR 4 is ok with a 1.1metre fixed dish )
.Please note, only the North transponders will be receivable with any consistancy the others will fade at certain times of day no matter how big a dish is used The further north you are located in England, the worse this will be. Although you can find reports from enthusiasts all over the UK, saying Nilesat is possible – dig a bit deeper and its not viable for the cost.
To motorise such a large dish to enable reception of many satellites is a completely different ‘kettle of fish’ – chargeable site survey, concreted ground stand, dish moving ‘jack’ rather than h-h motor, jack electronics, and a long installation job. Note the dishes over 1.2metre are usually glass-reinforced plastic and very expensive.
I would be happy to discuss and quote for individual installations – please email. To give some idea of cost, the professional Channel Master 1.8m dish with ground stand, custom feedhorn, custom LNB, 18 inch Jack, Diseqc /36volt converter, and bracket is over £1100 not including installation. Please note I do not install non-new equipment and I will not consider wall mounting dishes over 1.2metres.
