Spain is quite well served with 2 satellites broadcasting many free to air channels from major broadcasters, unfortunately the 2 satellites are spaced well apart, so a system to receive both is not easy and usually involves 2 separate dishes, or a motorised dish. There are many options for viewers wanting Spain AND other languages. I have listed most of the popular choices and requests below, for example those wanting Spanish (package 1a) and other euro languages , can use the MULTI dish to do this. Those wanting just Spain and Uk can use package Spain 2a. As you can see in the tables below the best selection of free channels is from the Hispasat satellite at 30 degrees West broadcasting some 27 spanish channels. However if you want a few channels from other countries as well , then the Spain 1a would be a better choice. On Astra (spain 1a) there are about 10 spanish channels Recent changes have meant TVEi is no longer on Hispasat (package Spain 1b) and can only be reliably received from Hotbird - see package Spain 2 below and TVE info... Package Spain2 combines Astra1 and Hotbird Spanish channels giving 11 in total including TVE i ... Unfortunately the channels broadcast free in Spain on the mainland by aerial ( terrestrial broadcast ) such as Antene3, Quatro, Cinquo, tve1, Tve2 etc. are not available free on satellite, only with the Digital+ packages.
