Express AM8 New Channels: RSCC have just started transmission of some interesting Russian channels on this satellite. Not much is known about their plans for the future, they may be linked to the conflict in Ukraine. The signal is fairly strong in the UK, if you want both these AND the Hotbird Russian channels, a motorised dish is the best method ( or 2 separate dishes ). Channels – see Russia package 4 below
The Free Russian channels from the Hotbird satellite, have been around a long time, are well established, and are unlikely to change. See Russia package 1 below
Also, there are the channels ‘Karusel’ and the ‘Russian Travel Guide’ on Eutelsat 9a which can be added to the main Hotbird dish if required.
If Ukraine is of interest, there is only one Ukraine channel on Hotbird, but there are a good number of Ukraine channels, on the Astra 4 satellite, which can be added, details are on the Ukraine page.

Note: Ordinary DVB S2 receivers will not tune the AM8 Russian channels.

Children's Channels from Russia
There are very few specific channels for children, there is Karousel for very young children and a Cartoon channel for 5 – 10 age group. The new offering from the Astra satellite gives you Detski Mir a kids channel from the Russian Chain Children’s retailer lastly Mult ( multfilm ) a brand new all-Russian cartoon channel
You can combine Russian packages with others by using a motorised dish or a multi satellite dish
If you want to combine Russian with channels from other satellites you can choose a motorised dish or a multi satellite dish
A 1metre dish with a diseqc motor can receive European, African and Asian satellites from 30 ° west to 32 or even 56° east, in most UK locations.
A standard fixed position parabolic dish can be fitted with 2,3 or more LNBs for multi-satellite reception, eg France, Germany, Italy & Spain
