Algeria broadcasts on satellite mainly from the Hotbird (13°east) and Eutelsat 7 WA (7.3 °west) . In the UK, the Hotbird channels are easy to find, but the Eutelsat channels are very weak and require a 1.1m dish in the south and bigger the further north you are.
What receiver will I get with this package? — Budget receiver from Amiko – the MIRA X which is Android based, very easy to set up, recommended for the Hotbird channels
Single lnb 65cm coated steel dish from Triax or Technomate, with tm1 or similar good lnb, with low noise and high gain. The Vivacom satellite at 45 deg east is very strong in the UK
You can order this with a motor dish
What receiver will I get with this package? — Top rated Technomate receiver, latest model, recommended for the weak signals from Eutelsat 7w
1m+ size dishes
In 2020 and 2021 the availability of large dishes changed significantly. Not many of the satellite equipment suppliers will now stock large sizes. Click quote and fill in the form for current dish availability
For latitudes above London I recommend the 1.25m Fracarro aluminium dish, very high gain, very strongly constructed for use in UK. Please note this is NOT recommended for installation above the gutter level or in windy positions. The signal is weak and may be affected by day-night and weather conditions
Another good choice for Eutelsat is the 1.3m Televes dish
Another good choice for Eutelsat in the South, was the 1.1m Triax dish but it is no longer made, so once stocks have gone, that’s it!
Best value dish is currently the Primesat 1.1 and 1.3m dishes. Aluminum, solidly constructed with steel mount ( not plastic as with their smaller dishes )
If you want to combine Algerian channels package 1 with channels from another satellite, eg English Freesat, French or German, you can choose a motorised dish or a multi satellite dish . The Amiko HD and the Technomate 5402HD are both capable of multi-satellite tuning.NOTE Algeria2 dish is not suitable for multi sat reception
Motorised 1m dish can receive any satellite from 30 degrees west to 42 east, in most places.
Multi satellite Wide angle dish with up to 4 or 5 satellites on a Toroidal dish with 40 degree spread
Multi sat ( up to 4 or 5 satellites ) on a standard Parabolic dish – 20 degree spread
